On Wednesday, Pulse Asia released the results of a poll that revealed the Philippines’ Vice President, Inday Sara Z. Duterte, has the most significant level of public confidence and approval.
The March 15-19, 2023. Ulat ng Bayan country survey found that 85 percent of respondents trusted Duterte.
With an approval rating of 80%, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. comes in second place, ahead of Senate President Juan Miguel F. Zubiri (48% approval) and House Speaker Martin G. Romualdez (44% approval).
Fifth on the list is Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Alexander G. Gesmundo, who received the support of 39% of respondents. Forty-five percent of people polled were still determining if they could trust the information provided by Gesmundo.
Three points were taken off of Marcos’s trustworthiness, four off of Romualdez’s, and six off of Zubiri’s. Duterte’s trustworthiness was constantly compared to the previous quarter. There was an 11-point gain in Gesmundo’s trust ratings between November 2022 and now.
In addition, Duterte’s approval rating was also the highest at 83%, ahead of Marcos’s 78%. After Gesmundo (55% approval), Zubiri and Romualdez (51% approval), and last, Gesmundo (45% approval).
Regional popularity
Duterte also scored quite highly for performance and trust, particularly on the island of Mindanao.
Up from 97% in November 2022, 98% of Mindanaoans said they approved Duterte’s job performance in March 2023.
Duterte’s approval rating in the Visayas was solid, rising from 92% in November 2022 to 97% in March 2023. In the Visayas and Mindanao, 97% of respondents said they had faith in Duterte.
Most Luzon residents, including those in Metro Manila, are pleased with Duterte’s leadership.
Marcos received the most excellent approval ratings (93%) in the Visayas and (87%) in Mindanao. While most Filipinos continue to approve of the President, his approval rating dropped from 77% in Luzon to 70% in Metro Manila.
